Plush and puff

It's been a busy weekend here in Tiny Town!
Two big shows, the first being Jason Lytle, formerly known as Grandaddy on Saturday...

Weird, I hadn't seen this video of Jason's until just now. I must of psychically chose the theme for the
Venus DeMars show on Sunday....

We added the theme of "plushies" (also known as "furries") to the Venus event just a couple of hours before the show.
Lucky for us, my neighbor happened to have two full-size furry outifts in his stash.
Lucky for us, I have a rather extensive collection of stuffed animal attire myself!

We also added a cheesepuff tasting into the mix. Thanks, Sir Cheesepuff!

If I wasn't already the leader of "Hillary Clinton Army", I might consider dedicating my life to the "Venus DeMars Army".
We love you, Venus!

Chasing Hillary Chapter 10

CHASING THE MOTORCADE

Chasing Hillary was never so easy as when musician, Melissa Reaves, joined me on the road. Of-course chasing Hillary is never easy. It even verges on the impossible. As Donovan sings, "You may as well try and catch the wind".

Melissa Reaves

Melissa is one of the great Southern musicians. She's played with just about everyone at one time or another. From Robert Plant of Led Zeplin, the Pointer Sisters, Cindy Lauper, Little Feat, and Gloria Gaynor, to Doc Watson and Lou Rawls, Melissa is the queen of her craft.
One of the benefits of having this traveling musician as your driver is her knowledge of practically every town and city in the South. Even if Melissa doesn't know the town, she has an almost psychic sense of direction.
One of our favorite past-times on the road was trying to catch the motorcade. This is not as easy as it sounds. First of all, the motorcade doesn't have to play by the rules. There's no such thing as stoplights or speed limits. The police help them by blocking off streets and escorting them through. They travel at incredible speeds most of the time, like 95 miles an hour on the highway.

Melissa and I try and try again to catch the motorcade. Melissa is relentless. One day she even successfully chased the Hillcopter. I'm sure Hillary must have noticed if she looked down, a brightly-colored vehicle steadily following below.
But even with Melissa's excellent driving skills and knowledge of the fastest way in and out of every town and city, we just aren't quick enough.
That is until one day in West Virginia...
We are on the highway coming from one Hillary rally and going to the next. Melissa is using her psychic senses to discern where the motorcade might be. I think it's way ahead of us, as it usually is, but Melissa thinks it's behind us. We play this game practically every day now, as we travel from rally to rally around the South.
"Oh my god, I think that's the motorcade coming up behind us!" Melissa says while cruising down the highway. I'm skeptical, as we always think we see the motorcade, and it never turns out to be.
"Oh shit! It IS the motorcade!"
The first police car whizzes past us, then an official looking vehicle. Hillary's motorcade begins to pass us one by one. When Hillary's Range Rover passes, the tinted window opens just a crack, and a long telescopic lens appears out of the vehicle. We are being photographed by someone in Hillary's car.
The motorcade is traveling around 95 miles an hour, a little much for my 1989 Toyota Corolla. The petal is to the metal.
A couple of police cars pass us and we think it's the end of motorcade. We are hell-bent on riding this wave so we hop to the left lane. "BEEEEEEEEEEP! BEEEEEEEEP! BEEEEEEP!" We are being forced back into the right lane by more official vehicles. Our hearts are beating wildly as we play this game.
A police car passes with it's lights and siren on. This HAS to be the tail end. We hop back onto the left lane and gun it.
We're on, and we're not being kicked off! We keep up the speed, 95 miles an hour right behind a police car. We are definitely breaking the law!
As we enter the town where the rally is going to be held, we are still traveling at a break-neck speed. Police have blocked off intersections and are out in the road waving us through. It's like riding a wave that is much too big, you can't stop or you might get killed. We burn through stoplight after stoplight with the speeding motorcade.
The police guide right into the rally site. We are in so much trouble if this goes wrong. We speed into the rally site, as on-lookers cheer for Hillary. They think the Hillcar is all a part of the show.
As the motorcade wave makes it's last turn into special top security parking, we make a split second decision that we better not push our luck, and keep going.
This has got to be the ride of a life-time! Police standing by the side of the road just wave and smile.
Melissa and I just look at each other and laugh.

We stayed outside of the rally that day and entertain kids with the Hillcar, quite possibly because we are afraid to go in and face the music.

This photo was being taken as Melissa sees the motorcade pulling away.
Hillary rolls down her window and waves at us.

Hillary allowed us play in her motorcade that day. If she didn't I think we would have wound up in jail.

The photo of the Hillcar on the highway taken by someone in Hillary's vehicle, appeared on her website slideshow the next day.
We found out later from Hillary's photographer, that secret service took the photo. Unfortunately I don't have the photo.

I feel certain that when Hillary wrote saying that she "sure misses seeing the Hillcar everywhere she goes", she was referencing the period of time in which Melissa Reaves, Hillary-Chaser D'jour, was behind the wheel.

Goth Goddesses love Hillary Clinton

Venus DeMars says so, so it's got to be true!

Venus DeMars confirmed this to be a fact, while on route from Minneapolis to beautiful downtown Bisbee Arizona, for her up-coming show here on Sunday.
We may need to research this further, and ultimately create Wikepedia page.
If you are a Goth Goddess, or if you know a Goth Goddess who loves Hillary Clinton.... please write in and let us know!

HILLARY CLINTON INTERNATIONAL!

Looks like I'll be kicking off the first HILLARY CLINTON INTERNATIONAL! art show next month in Tucson, AZ.
I'll be doing this show at the Candelabra Gallery, Tucson's hottest new gallery, run by Colleena Hake. The date is in the process of being set.
I'll start the ball rolling. If the show is successful as a solo show, I think it should become a group show by women artists next time.

Subject matter: Hillary of-course.

Objective: To express what this inspirational woman means to each of us.

O.K., the clock is ticking... and I have a lot of art to make!

Hillary Clinton comic book

Oh look, someone has come out with a Hillary Clinton comic book!
My main problem here is the same company also came out with a comic book about Sarah Palin, Caroline Kennedy, and Michelle Obama. My question is, where's the Cindy McCain comic book?

I'm all for a Hillary Clinton comic book, but I think it should be made by a true blue Hillary lover, like...oh, how about..... me!

Happy birthday, Nina Hagen!

As a child of the 80's....I love, love, love Nina Hagen! She's 54 years old today.

This song goes out to my dear friend, Michael. He is the biggest Nina fan ever. Michael is no longer with us in body... but always in spirit!

Chasing Hillary Chapter 9

THE BIRTHDAY PARTY

Here I am, it' 5 O'clock on the dot, and I can't believe I made it. The storm lets up the moment I arrive at the Clinton's house. This must be a good sign. That storm was terrible, I could barely drive. Trees down, cars crashed or pulled off on the side of the road, a real mess. I still can't believe I drove all the way from Kentucky and into the "big city" of Washington D.C. all by myself, never mind finding my way here today in this nasty storm.
I'm a small town girl and big city driving scares me to death. Though I've been on the road for months in the Hillcar, I seem to always find a friend to accompany me. Not this time.
Getting here has been worth the hassle though. Look where I am! I am invited to bring the Hillcar to a party at the Clinton's house. It's Dorothy Rodham's 89th birthday and the whole family will be celebrating. How lucky am I!

But where is Tony? Why isn't he answering his phone? Maybe he's stuck in the storm. I guess I'll just sit in my car and wait.
And wait...

Tony Rodham and I

"Excuse me Miss, would you mind stepping out of your car?"
It's the secret service. Two guys in black suits carrying clip boards. Hillary's secret service know me on the campaign trail, but apparently these guys stayed in D.C.
'Would you mind telling us what you are doing here?"
"I was invited to bring my car here for Dorothy Rodham's birthday party. Tony Rodham invited me".
"Who's that?" They ask. You've got to be kidding. Your protecting the Clinton family and you don't know them by name?
"Tony is Hillary's brother. He asked me to be here at 5 O'clock to show Hillary the car. He told me to call him as soon as I get here, but he's not answering his phone. I just spoke with him a couple of hours ago."
"We're going to have to confirm this with him", they say. "We will be back in just a minute".
The sky turns black and explodes with rain. I get back into the car and wait some more.

I had such a wonderful time the other night with the Rodham family. They are warm, fun and down to earth. We laughed until the wee hours as Tony told my friends and I story after story about growing up with Hillary. Everyone really enjoyed the Hillcar, and Tony thought that his sister would get a kick out of seeing it up close too. In the past, she had sent her personal photographer to the car. Due to crowds and safety issues, she had never been able to it check personally.
"It's my mom's birthday", Tony explained, "But I'd like to give Hillary a present. After all she's been through, she needs a good laugh".

The Rodham kids with the Hillcar.

There's a rapping on my window, and I see the men are back. I roll down my window and immediately get soaked.
"Mr. Rodham says he doesn't know you and did not invite you here. We need to see your I.D., and ask you some questions".
He begins his litany of questions as we all get soaked.
"Why don't you fellows get in the car and out of the rain?" I offer. I don't feel like a have much choice in the matter, so we might as well stay dry.
The interrogation begins. The man in the front seat pulls out a clipboard and begins filling out forms as thick as a novel. Page after page of insulting questions are asked.
"Do you want to kill anybody?" "Do you have a history of mental illness?" "Do you have any weapons in the car?" "Do you hear voices in your head telling you to do things?" These fun questions and a whole lot more!
"Look guys, I was asked to come here today by Tony. I can see this isn't exactly working out, so I'd just as soon be doing something other than this. If it's alright with you, I'd like to be going now".
The man continues to fill out forms. "Very organized", "neat" I see him write. Well, that's good I guess.
The guy in the back seat seems thoroughly entertained as well.

"Would you rather we call the police?" he man in the passenger seat asks. Hmmmm.... looks like I'll be staying a while longer.
"Please get out of the car and open your trunk".
Standing out in the rain as the secret servicemen search through 50 Hillary masks and 50 red blazers in the trunk of my car, party-goers walk by and stare.
"This sucks", I think. I've been set up.
After about an hour of humiliating search and interrogation, the boys in black finally admit they never actually spoke with Tony at all. They say they got this message 3rd hand. Once again they head back into Hillary's house, this time to actually talk with Tony.

The only photo I took of Hillary's house.

Upon returning this time their story has changed a little bit, but the damage has already been done.
"Mr. Rodham admits he invited you here today, but says that Hillary is too busy to come outside. We are sorry, but we have to ask you to leave".

I drive away in the pouring rain. Hillary has just lost. I'm exhausted. I'm broke. I've been throughly humiliated. Is this the end of my story? Two years of intense work for this?
I find myself feeling relieved that it's raining so hard.
People always check out the colorful Hillary Clinton car as it passes by and I'm hoping that the rain hides my tears.

I found out later that Hillary spent this whole day on the phone with the D.N.C. They were trying to force her to concede.
I guess I wasn't the only one having a bad day.

Jason Lytle, Venus DeMars

Hi everyone, I just came back from a mini-vacation in Tucson, where we had a new stereo installed into the Hillcar.
Can I get a whoop! whoop!
We rocked out to the sounds of Jason Lytle (Grandaddy) and Venus DeMars, both of whom will be in Bisbee this weekend!
We are extremely fortunate to have such great musicians come to our little town!

Chasing Hillary Chapter 8

HILLARY WANTS TO KNOW

"Hi, this is Jamie Brazil, we met in Scranton. Hillary wants to know where that car of yours is?"
I had just returned home from joining the campaign trail in Pennsylvania with my Hillcar.

The last 10 days I'd had the time of my life. After having so much fun, I was feeling disappointed to be back home and returning to my regular life. I desperately wanted to get right back on the campaign trail. I was positively thrilled that Hillary's cousin, Jamie Brazil was on the other end of the line.
"Hi Jamie, I put the Hillcar back on a trailer in Pennsylvania, and it's heading back to Arizona right now".
"Well Hillary loves it and she asked me to tell you so. She wants it out with the campaign. She also LOVES your pantsuits. I just spoke with her and she said "And what about that pantsuit. Ha!" She really got a kick out of it. So about the car. When can you get it back out on the trail?"
"Where does she want it?" I asked. If Hillary wanted it on the moon, I think I would have found a way to get it there.
"I'm having a meeting with her this afternoon. I'll ask her where she wants it and get back to you."

Jamie Brazil

That night I dreamt of 50 Hillarys running around in red blazers.
Two days later, I was on a airplane heading for North Carolina to meet the Hillcar and a shipment of 50 Hillary masks.

Hillary Clinton as server

I just ran across this video of Hillary serving chocolates to her staff.
Being a server myself, I think this is worth watching.
