Turn up the brightness!

It's easy to forget the fact that life is more fun when you wear bright colors, until you wear bright colors. Then you think, "Oh, this is fun. I need to do this more often!"
So this weekend, I recommend  that you
bust out with some brightness on your bad self!

It seems Hillary agrees! These cool clapping
Hillary's come from all the way from
Hillary's village!

Stencil Mania!

Do you want to make one of those cool stencil suits that everyone's wearing?
Well, here's how!
All you'll need is a utility knife, a marker, a couple of those plastic "yard sale" signs,  and some spray paint.
First, draw a picture on a piece of paper.
I drew a picture of a pantsuit, but you can draw whatever you want!

Next, draw it onto a piece of mylar. Or easier still... use one of those "For Sale" or "Yard Sale" signs you can buy at any hardware store.

Draw your picture onto the plastic. If you want more than one color for your stencil, then you'll have to cut out more than one stencil. Each stencil must be cut according to where you want the color.

Using a utility knife, and cut out your image. I recommend putting a piece of cardboard under your stencil if you don't want to cut into the table. Not a good idea!
Now we're ready to get to the really fun part.
Next you will need some spray paint. There's a world of color out there, so take your pick!

  The black stencil, for detail.

The basic pantsuit stencil.

Meet my assistant Bingo, she'll be helping us out today.

Choose a light colored fabric to spray your stencil onto. I'm stenciling a pantsuit, but you can stencil a t-shirt, jacket, or whatever you want. Do a practice run on something you don't care about first.
I'm using Pedro, the mannequin, for easier demonstration, but you can spray flat on the ground, on top of a tarp or use a piece of wood. Just put some cardboard between the front and the back of the fabric so the paint doesn't bleed through... and always, always spray paint outside.

Bingo holds up the stencil for the first spray... orange, Bingo's favorite color.

I make the first spray. You will want to spray lightly, a little goes a long way.

Don't worry if it's not perfect, spray painting isn't an exact science.
Now we add the second color to the mix, I've chosen black.

It's looking good. Now on to more stenciling using other colors.

Stenciling is easy, fun and fast! I should be wearing this suit in about 15 minutes!

Oh look, our stencil suit is done... and in record time! You can wash your stenciled garment in the washing machine. It won't fade or run. It's all about wash and wear!

Bingo and I are so happy with our art project, we're jumping for joy!

That's all there is to it. Let's review...draw, cut, spray, wear!

This has been lots of fun, but we've got to be going now. See you around the neighborhood!

Amelia Earhart

Interesting evidence is arising over the discovery of what might be Amelia Earhart's campsite on the island of Nikumaroro south of Hawaii. It is speculated that she spent her final days here after her plane crashed.
Like Hillary Clinton, Amelia was a major champion of women''s rights. She traveled all over the world to promote equality of the sexes.Pretty cool.
I think this merits putting on our aviator gear and listening to the Handsome Family's song, "Amelia Earhart".
Some of the H.C.A. are taking an unofficial road trip tomorrow to go see the Handsome family, maybe even wearing flight wear, who knows.

William Shatner reads Beat Poet Palin

I've always been a fan of the Shat. I love his Beat poet rendition of "Lucy in the sky with Diamonds", and how can we ever forget "Mr., Mr. Tamborine Man!"
Check out Mr. Shatner as he reads Sarah Palin's bizarre resignation speech...ah, I mean poem.

I do wish he put a little more inflection on the Sarah's words though, like he does here in his 1978 rendition of "Rocket Man".

A little Shatner goes a long way. I think I'm good for a year or two.

Moth-eaten Napoleon

Today's theme of "Waterloo" inspired me to create this intriguing new look...

     It's called "The Moth-eaten Napoleon".
This is just the look for the kind of guy who wants to wear a Pantsuit that says "I've been hanging around the attic for way too long and I'm proud of it!"
If you like to smell of musty old books and moth balls, this is the Pantsuit for you.
Go ahead, order the oldest scotch in the house, you deserve it!

Waterloo

Today's theme is Waterloo.
Here's some ABBA for inspiration....

Let's see where this takes us. Epaulets, yes.
Tassels? Maybe.

David Bowie's jacket from his Earthling tour, absolutely!
The history book on the shelf, is always repeating itself!
It's time we tap Waterloo.... so bring it on!
I'll be working the Waterloo today, though I have no idea where this will take me, so check back!

Fall Pantsuit Predictions

Though it's still summer, those of us in the Pantsuit-know, know we must start planning NOW for Fall Pantsuit fashion.
Here's a sneak peek into what I speculate will be big in the Pantsuit Kingdom this Fall.

Check out this plum number, made in fabulous faux fur.
Note the stylish epaulets, made complete by a dangling, solid silver chain.
I predict we will be seeing a lot of berry colors this fall... Mulberry, Raspberry, Blackberry, Cranberry, Boxberry, Bosenberry, Huckleberry, Checkerberry, and Plaidberry ... just to name just a few.
Secretary Clinton, wearing this Hunter Green number a couple of days ago, is jumping the gun on the new fall pantsuit fashions already. Word is she is saving her Mulberry Pantsuit until after Labor day.
So enjoy those fruity summer colors while you still can ( Tangerine, Peach, Banana, Lime, Lemon, mango and melon, yum!)
Personally, however, I can't wait to bust out with some Fall Pantsuit fashion!

Consultation at Pantsuit Institute

I had a consultation at the Institute today from two experts in the field of art, art cars, and spectacle.
Internationally famous, Harrod Blank, taking a short break from his world tour of promoting his new movie, Automorphosis, dropped by to take a look.
                      Harrod Blank

Kate Pearson, renowned Art Car Royalty and Paintress Supreme, also made the scene.

                        Kate Pearson

Here's what they had to say...
Harrod suggested I look at cars and pantsuits like a blank canvas.
You drive into an art event in a pristine white car and white pantsuit... and you leave the event looking, oh, just a little more decorative.
Harrod should know...

                The Camera Van

                 The Flash Bulb Suit

Kate, on the other hand, took a whole different spin...

Kate went into a psychic trance and determined which of my new paintings would definitely sell.
I hope she is right.
Thanks Kate and Harrod for the consultation, I very much appreciate it!

Take a chance on me

Things are rolling along fabulously with the Art Envoys and the Pantsuit Art show.

Looks like I'll have a T.V. interview with Plum T.V. on Martha's Vineyard, where I'll talk a bit about the Art Envoys.
Oh, look at the time. It's ABBA:30 already. Time to bust out some out!
ABBA, by the way, seriously rocks the pantsuit!

Jujy Fruit Panttree suit

Ah, the Envoys are out picking colorful fruits off the Jujy Fruit Panttree suit...tree... thing...(cough, cough)...ah, ya.

 (unfinished painting)
Well, anyway,  ya gotta love those juicy Pantsuit colors!

On a brighter note, I had a really cool dream last night I have to tell you about before I forget.
I dreamt a giant sunflower bent down to smell me. It was very shy, kind of like a deer, and so were it's shy sunflower friends that hung around in the background.
Smelled by a flower, pretty cool!

Behold the Pantsuit!

Ever since Hillary Clinton first laid claim to the Pantsuit, I haven't been able to look at them in the same way.
Where as before I thought of them as horrible polyester atrocities filling up thrift stores everywhere, I now consider them to be magical garments from heaven.
Their crazy-bright colors, their polyester perfection, their womanly cut.
AAAAAHHHH! (Hear the choirs of angels sing).
Behold, for it is a wonderous creation. Let us call it "The Pantsuit" and always spell it with a capital P. We must sing it's glories far and wide!
Do such splendorous garments grow on trees?
I think not, for their brilliant colors  are not of this earth.

We must worship them. We must liberate them from their thrift store prisons and give them the life they deserve!

And in return they shall giveth to us a thousand fold!

Squash those rumors!

No wedding bells for Chelsea this summer, says Hillary.
She would like these rumors to be squashed.
Wedding? What wedding? Just practicing here.

Hillary earlier today, wearing a squash colored pantsuit in Bangkok.

Island Update

This just in via Hillcar Satellite...

Here's the latest rumors regarding the Clintons and the Obamas time on Martha's Vineyard...
Chelsea Clinton's and Marc Mezvinsky's wedding is rumored to be the last weekend in August at Vernon Jordan's house.
The Obamas will be staying on the Vineyard August 22nd through August 30th in Chilmark.
And the rumor mill churns on...
